English Oak - Structural Restoration Grade (Fully Dry, minimum 25 years) is highly seasoned, slow-dried oak typically recovered from historic beams, barns and long-stored stock. This extended air-drying period produces exceptionally stable timber with very low moisture content, resulting in minimal movement, shrinkage or distortion in service. It retains the species' characteristic strength, hardness and high natural durability, along with its dense, ring-porous grain and rich golden to deep brown colouring, often enhanced by age-related patina.
In the timber industry, this grade of oak is primarily specified for heritage restoration, conservation construction and high-end structural joinery where authenticity and long-term stability are essential. It is widely used for replacing or repairing historic beams, framing, flooring and architectural features in listed buildings, as well as for bespoke green oak-style construction where fully seasoned performance is required. Its combination of structural reliability and historic character makes it especially valued in restoration-led architectural projects.
